Saddiq Bey agrees to three-year, $20 million contract with Wizards

Free agent Saddiq Bey has signed a three-year, $20 million contract with the Washington Wizards, his agents, James Dunleavy and Jordan Gertler of Excel Basketball, told ESPN on Wednesday night.

Bey, who is recovering from a season-ending torn ACL suffered by the Atlanta Hawks, returns to his hometown to join a Wizards franchise in the midst of a full rebuild. Bey played high school basketball at the famed DeMatha Catholic in Hyattsville, Maryland.

Washington can give the 25-year-old Bey time to fully recover from his knee injury and now adds him to the core of young players.

Bey averaged 13.7 points and 6.5 rebounds in 63 games for the Hawks last season. He began his career with the Detroit Pistons, who selected him out of Villanova with the 19th pick in the 2020 NBA draft.

Bey joined the Hawks in a 2023 trade deadline deal. He has averaged 14.1 points in his career with the Pistons and Hawks.

Bey is one of nine players with at least 650 made 3-pointers in his first four NBA seasons, according to ESPN Stats & Information. He ranks in the top 10 in made hook 3s over the past four years, according to Second Spectrum tracking.
