Nexon has responded to claims that The First Descendant’s iconography bears a striking resemblance to icons from Destiny 2.
Earlier this week, players discovered a surprising number of similarities between the icons and weapons used in the new free-to-play sci-fi shooter The First Descendant and Destiny 2.
In response to Forbes, which first raised the issue, publisher Nexon said it “takes the concerns raised seriously” and “will ensure that images that may be similar are no longer shown.” [to Destiny 2] clearly reflects the unique identity of [its] game”.
“The First Descendant is a looter-shooter game developed with much love and respect for other games in the genre,” Nexon said in a statement.

“Destiny 2 is a globally renowned looter shooter game and is personally admired and respected by the team. It also served as inspiration during the development process.
“We took the concerns raised seriously and decided to make adjustments to ensure that the visuals that may appear similar clearly reflect the unique identity of our game. We continue to improve the game for fans of the looter shooter genre.”

The First Descendant features character enhancements, dynamic combat, “colossal” boss battles, and customization options and is available now on PC via Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and previous-gen consoles.
Destiny 2 developer Bungie recently disabled the rewards generated in private Crucible matches due to “an issue.”
While the studio wouldn’t reveal what the issue was exactly, Destiny 2 players believed it was related to a glitch that allowed players in private matches to collect various items and consumables even when they were away from their consoles/PCs.
