Nintendo today rolled out a brand new update to its Switch Online Game Boy Advance library, adding a trio of colorful action games starring Starfy, who you may recognize from the DS title The Legendary Starfy.
These three GBA games, developed by Tose, were previously available exclusively in Japan. Densetsu no Starfy was originally released in 2002the second match followed in 2003 and the third game was released in 2004Here’s a quick crash course on Starfy, courtesy of Nintendo:
“Poetictsu is the Japanese word for legend, and Starfy – Prince of Pufftop Kingdom, golden-hearted (and somewhat clumsy) hero, and frequent water explorer – is ready to show you what makes him so legendary! Join Starfy, his sister Starly, and his gruff best friend Moe for a swimming, slapstick trilogy of games packed with vibrant action and adventure, all originally available on the Game Boy Advance system.

Densetsu no Starfy – No sleep till Pufftop! A sudden storm has caused Starfy, prince of the floating sky kingdom of Pufftop, to fall from his high home into the sea. Luckily, he is saved by an old lobster named Lobber who sends the lovable hero on a grand journey back to Pufftop. The road home is full of dangers, however, and Starfy will have to use a variety of abilities – including Star Spin and Glide – and vehicles such as the mighty Mole Tank, to overcome the challenges that await him. The legend begins here!
Densetsu no Starfy 2 – Help Starfy save his mother and restore peace to Pufftop Kingdom in this action-packed sequel! Ogura – the villain from the first game – is back to exact revenge on Starfy, and this time he’s got Mama Star in his sights. The vengeful villain plunders Pufftop and steals Starfy’s mother in the ensuing riot, leaving Starfy with no choice but to rush headlong into his next adventure. With his best friend Moe in tow and plenty of challenges to overcome, Starfy has his work cut out for him.
Densetsu no Starfy 3 – Starfy’s sister Starly joins him and Moe for their third adventure on Game Boy Advance! Discover the truth behind the mysterious villain who has been pulling Ogura’s strings all this time and put a stop to their evil plans once and for all. Spin and soar with the star siblings and save the day in action-packed levels with the help of familiar friends including… Wario?! You read that right: Wario crosses paths with Starfy and Starly to help them through the Undersea Ruins in Stage 8 (while hunting for treasure, of course), so be sure to check it out. In case you’re wondering, Japan received the same three Game Boy Advance titles for Switch Online this week. This latest update follows seven games added to the NES library earlier this month.
